Is there a way to change the amount of time the reminder is for? I have the different hourly reminders to choose from, as well as 1 thru 4 days, 1 week, and 2 weeks.
But what if i needed to be reminded about something a month ahead of time. Is there a way to do that? Thanks alot, helped me a great deal! It was helpful for me to create and to delete recurring Appointment in my Outlook I'm also frustrated by the loss of a reminder.
My work around is to put on a appointment that is zero minutes long. It shows on the calendar but does not block any meeting time. I also use Category to change the color so its visible.
To add a task reminder to your Tasks list, select the task and then in the Follow-up group, choose a time frame to meet your deadline. Instead, watch for the Outlook icon flashing in the taskbar and listen for a reminder sound. If you work in a loud area, try turning up your speaker volume or changing the reminder sound to something unique. To turn default reminders on or off for all new appointments or meetings, under Calendar options , select or clear the Default reminders check box.
If you select the check box, enter how long before the appointment or meeting when you want the reminder to appear. On the Appointment tab, in the Options group, in the Reminder drop-down list, select how long before the appointment or meeting when you want the reminder to appear.
Note: For all-day events, the default reminder time is 18 hours in advance. Although you can't change the default for all of the all-day events that you create, you can change the reminder time on each appointment. Tip: You can quickly flag email messages as to-do items by using reminders. Right-click the Flag Status column in the message list.
Or if you have the message open, on the Message tab, in the Tracking group, click Follow Up , and then click Add Reminder. In the Custom dialog box, select or clear the Reminder check box. If you select the check box, enter the date and time when you want the reminder to appear. Important: Office is no longer supported. On the Tools menu which is on the menu bar at the top of the Outlook main screen—the one that shows all your mail—click Options. Note that you won't see the Tools menu if you're in an email message.
To have a reminder automatically turned on or off for new appointments or meetings, on the Preferences tab, in the Calendar group, select or clear the Default reminder check box. If you select the check box, enter the amount of time before the appointment or meeting when you want the reminder to appear. Note: If the Open Recurring Item dialog box is displayed, you must decide whether to change the reminder for the occurrence that you opened or for the entire series.
Click either Open this occurrence or Open the series , and then click OK. On the Appointment tab, in the Options group, in the Reminder list, select the amount of time before the appointment or meeting when you want the reminder to appear.
To turn off a reminder, select None. Outlook reminders are exactly what they sound like: They're a timed message that pops up to remind you of something. You can use them with tasks, appointments, and meetings. What you might not know about are a few options that help you manage your reminders so that they work better for you.
In this article, I'll introduce you to a few of these helpful settings. You can use just one or all of them. I'm using Microsoft on a Windows 10 bit system. Some of these settings aren't available in earlier editions. There's no demonstration file; you won't need one. It won't help to discuss newer or otherwise helpful options if you don't know how to set a reminder.
The good news is, it's simple, and you can set one for most Outlook items. Using the Calendar, double-click the day and time, depending on which view you're using. If the appointment or meeting already exists, double-click it to open it. In the resulting dialog, the reminder option is in the Options group.
Simply choose the number of minutes, hours, days, or even weeks ahead from the Reminder dropdown shown in Figure A. To set a reminder for a task, open an existing or new task and use the Follow-Up option in the Tags group. Specifically, choose Reminder from the Follow-Up dropdown and use the resulting dialog to complete the settings. Use this same method to set a flag for new and existing emails, which isn't quite the same thing as a reminder.
You won't see the flag if someone responds: The flag is in the copy of the message, which by default, Outlook will save to the Sent folder.
The biggest problem with reminders is that you often don't see them while working. In the most recent versions of Microsoft , you can fix this problem by setting an option that always displays all reminders on top of all windows.
