Obviously, for those who care about their relationship with God, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and His guidance is of paramount importance. Many, it would seem, argue or rationalize from a reverse sort of reasoning. They want to belong to God. They want to be His child. They believe they are, therefore the Spirit must be present.
But such wishful thinking leads to paradoxical and problematic situations. Just to use an obvious example: One man claims the Spirit of God led him to believe the world will end on July the 2nd. A second man says that the Spirit of God led him to believe the world will end on July the 11th. And, as the dates pass, it becomes obvious they were both wrong. So which man was led by the Spirit?
God is not a God of confusion. Furthermore, God does not lie. If He says a thing, then it happens. We can reasonably conclude there are various people who claim to be led by the Spirit who are either lying or are deluded. Just because a person claims the Spirit has told them a certain thing does not mean we should believe them.
The disciples were confused, perplexed, and had no true understanding of what was going on. They saw Jesus being arrested, beaten, and ultimately executed on a cross. Yet this chaos and confusion was exactly what God planned to bring about our redemption. You must keep this verse in context. Yes, it is important to know that God is not the author of confusion. However the primary focus of this verse is within a worship service environment. Do not be surprised if he chooses to use instability, upheaval, or disturbance to bring you to a place of change in your life.
Sometimes the confusion is the only way to get your attention. It really is good to gather together for corporate worship services. I love the fact that when we do, God really does desire to move among us and to bless the body as a whole.
By the way, only he can do this. He takes a song, a testimony, an instruction, a message and uses it to minister to everyone that is in the service, regardless of where they are. When God moves in a service he will do this in a manner that has order because he does care about every person that walks through those doors and sits in that service.
When we are in tune with what God wants to do then we can accomplish what Paul says at the end of chapter When it is fitting and orderly then you know who the author is because God is not the author of confusion.
Father God, You desire peace and unity and encouragement for our body of believers. Help us, Lord, to pursue what makes for peace and for building one another up. To pursue the things You will lead to peace and unity.
Give us discerning hearts to know Your will and give us the courage to be obedient. Lord, we know that without You and Your Holy Spirit indwelling each of us, we cannot do any of these things.
But, with You and for Your glory, grant our body peace and unity. God, help our church body to walk in a manner worthy of the calling You have given us.
Help us in all our interactions with one another to have humble and gentle hearts. Grant us patience for one another, bearing with one another in love. Grant the Body of Christ unity. May we walk humbly with You, God, allowing You to show us our wrongs.
Clarence L. For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saint 1 Corinthians Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world 1 John Be sober-minded; be watchful.
Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour 1 Peter Confusion happens to everyone, and it is not something that anyone wants to have in their life. When we do not understand things in our life, we fear, we worry, and we stress because we do not have the Truth in us, and what is the Truth? God is Truth John ; John His Word is truth.
Jesus spoke Truth. You see, confusion only comes when we do not have the peace of God in us. Now, I understand that the enemy will always try to come with confusion in our liv es. By doing this, confusion will be less effective. The case in point is that God knows our every detail. He knows how many hairs we have Luke , and what steps in life we will take.
He will never lead you astray, but He will lead you into all truth John In 1 Corinthians 14 , Paul is addressing the church of Corinth that was struggling to understand the gifts of the Spirit. Whether comparing gifts among each other or utilizing gifts such as speaking in tongues during worship, the church dealing with confusion and felt unorganized.
Paul is exhorting the church to seek orderly worship where the time would be shared between singing, revelations and prophecy, and testimony. While these are gifts of the Spirit that are good to share among believers, Paul is teaching that God would not want the use of gifts during church to be confusing and hinder true worship.
Matthew Henry's Commentary explains: "He tells them, God is not the God of confusion, but of peace and good order, v. Therefore divine inspiration should by no means throw Christian assemblies into confusion, and break through all rules of common decency, which yet would be unavoidable if several inspired men should all at once utter what was suggested to them by the Spirit of God, and not wait to take their turns.
Note, The honour of God requires that things should be managed in Christian assemblies so as not to transgress the rules of natural decency. If they are managed in a tumultuous and confused manner, what a notion must this give of the God who is worshipped, to considerate observers! Does it look as if he were the God of peace and order, and an enemy to confusion? Things should be managed so in divine worship that no unlovely nor dishonourable notion of God should be formed in the minds of observers.
In the Bible, it is mentioned that God will confuse your enemies Joshua
