A glitch back in when they were released led users to be able to create Draiks like non- Limited edition pets for a few days before The Neopets Team fixed it. It was originally planned for this pet to be obtainable from the Creation Centre, and the first batch of Draiks was indeed released in this way.

I offered on your draik egg though I still dont see why they have draik eggs but not pteri eggs or scorchio eggs or something On Draik Day in Year 11 something went wrong in the chain of command at Neopets HQ and, for some reason that was never fully explained, for a short time it was possible to create a Draik. The mistake was quickly rectified, but not before thousands of Draiks had been released into Neopia. Draiks created in this way are seen as being somehow "less valuable" than their more-legitimately-created brethren, particularly to pet traders.
